RBS and NatWest Customer Misery Continues with Double Loan Repayments

In yet another blow for customers of RBS and Natwest, many of them have discovered that their loan repayments have been taken twice from their bank accounts.
The banks are beginning to look like their system is severely lacking after confidence in them is several dented for the second time in a matter of weeks. The latest technical hitch could be the last straw for many customers who have enough financial stress without the added burden of worrying about bank errors.
RBS and NatWest were keen to diffuse the situation by announcing that only a small number of customers have been affected. The bank has “made a promise that no customers will be out of pocket as a result “.
In a statement the taxpayer owned bank said: “We apologise to any customers experiencing problems today. We said last week that we expected to see a few bumps in the road for customers as we get things fully back on track.
“Any customers experiencing problems should contact our call centre on 0161 931 9959 or 0800 656 9639, or visit their local branch and we will put things right.”
The effects of the recent IT system failures are expected to be felt for several months as customers try to reclaim costs incurred due to the errors. Even though the bank’s biggest system problems are in their 3rd week there are still 100,000 Ulster Bank customers who still can’t gain access to all of their money. The Ulster bank which is part of the RBS family is still working through its backlog of transactions.
